Imagine yourself standing at the foot of two staircases. At the top of each staircase is a fat envelope full of checks for you and your family. The checks are for $10000 each, dated month after month after month.
You must choose the staircase to climb to collect the checks. The staircase on the left is made of 2800 steps, while the one on the right is made of 400 steps.
Which one do you choose to climb?
Silly question, right? You’d obviously climb the right staircase, as you’d be doing less work for the same reward!
We can use the same thinking when choosing the best MLM compensation plan. If we want to earn $10000 per month, we have to find a bunch of people to join us in our business. But how big is that bunch? This is where the 10k question comes in.
How many people do I need on my team to generate a walkaway residual income of $10000 per month?
Most respectable companies require from 2000 to 4000 people spending about $150 per month. The answers we have collected range from as high as 28000 to a low of about 400. That means that if you are working in a company that requires 2800, you are working 7 times harder than you have to in order to achieve your financial goals.
It also means that the people joining you will be working seven times harder than THEY have to. That’s how we spell A-T-T-R-I-T-I-O-N, and you could really be working 49 times harder than you have to. It’s not an experiment we’d choose to carry out!
Hold on … yes we did! We failed for five long frustrating expensive years in a well known company, only to find out much later that their answer to the 10k question was 10000! That meant we were working 25 times harder than we had to! No wonder people left us before they got started, and no wonder we thought we failed! We blamed ourselves, when in fact the compensation plan did not reward us for our efforts.
It would be like climbing a 10000 step staircase when we could have chosen a 400 step staircase. Or like choosing a job at $2 per hour when we could have been doing the same thing at $50 per hour!
If you are struggling in your network marketing business, don’t be so quick to blame yourself. It’s true that we all need the skills to succeed, but take a moment to calculate your 10k answer. You owe it to yourself and to those you are inviting to join you in your business. No one would start a job without knowing the salary, and no one should join a network marketing company without knowing the answer to the 10k question.
